Kullanıldığı isimle birlikte bir cümlenin öznesi ya da nesnesi görevinde kullanılabilir. Bahsedilen şeyin yokluğundan bahsetmek için kullanılır.
a. We talked about the lack of education at the meeting.
(Toplantıda eğitimsizlikten bahsettik.)
b. Lack of education is a problem in Turkey.
(Eğitimsizlik Türkiye'de bir problemdir.)
Adjective + Preposition + V(ing)
İngilizce'de ‘sıfat + edat + V(ing)' formuyla cümle kurulurken özellikle dikkat edilmesi gereken fiilin mutlaka ‘ing' alarak isim haline getirilmesidir.
Aşağıdaki kullanımlara dikkat ediniz.
– My sister is interested in Geography.
– My sister is good at playing volleyball.
– My sister is bad at understanding people.
– My sister is proud of getting high marks all the time.

Note: Sıfatlardan sonra kullanılan edatlara dikkat ediniz.
