Mustafa was born in Salonika in 1881. He lead an ordinal life until he began his military career. Mustafa entered Military Preperatory School and his Maths teacher gave him a name
‘Kemal”. As a last step he graduated from the General Stuff College and Ottoman Empire sends him to Damascus. There, Mustafa Kemal and his friends established a secret society
called “Fatherland and Freedom’.
Mustafa Kemal transferred to Third Army and went to Salonika. He had some achievements in Libya and he finally stopped Allies’ progress in Ariburnu and became the commander of
Anafartalar Group.
After these achievements, he left İstanbul and landed in Samsun to start the War of Independence. After Erzurum and Sivas Congresses he arrived in Ankara and opened
the Turkish Grand National Assembly. After that the Istanbul Government condenmed Mustafa Kemal to death. Atatürk won the battles of Sakarya and Dumlupınar then he entered İzmir.
He abolished the Sultanate on November
1,1922.
As social improvements, he wore a hat for the first time in Kastamonu, introduced the Turkish Alphabet, founded the Turkish Historical Society and Turkish Linguistic Society. He introduced the Surname Regulation and took ‘Atatürk’ as a surname.
After all his political efforts for the rest of his life,he died at 09:05 in Dolmabahçe Palace.
