Aşağıdaki notlara dikkat ediniz.

When + The Simple Past Tense
While + Past Continuous Tense

The Simple Past Tense vs Past Continious Tense

Bu iki zamanın karşılaştırılmasında özellikle dikkat edilecek nokta bahsedilen eylemin ne kadar sürdüğüdür. şimdi iki eylemi karşılaştıralım.

1. She – Make tea / The phone ring

‘Make tea’ yani çay yapmak eylemi ring yani çalmak (zil, alarm vb..) eyleminden daha uzun sürdüğü için past continuous tense ile yazılmıştır.
2. He ride a bike / he see an accident.

‘Ride a bike’ yani bisiklet sürmek fiili, ‘see an accident’ yani bir kaza görmek fiiline göre daha uzun süreli olduğu için past continuous tense ile yazılmıştır.
3. I talk on the phone /my father arrive at home

‘eve varmak” fiili, ‘telefonda konuşmak’ fiiline göre kısa sürelidir.
1. Children play games / their mothers talk

Fiillerden ikisi de uzun sürmüş olabilir, bu sebepten ikisi de Past Continuous ile yazılmıştır.

2. We play marbles / our parents drink tea

We see a little girl / she smile at us.

Fiillerin ikisi de kısa sürmüş olabilir.
