Tercih bildirmek için kullanılır. Kendisinden sonra gelen fiil başına ‘to’ alır.

Had better
‘Yapsan iyi olur’ anlamında kullanılan bir yapıdır.
Kendisinden sonra gelen fiil yalın haldedir.
a. You had better wait for the bus at the busstop.

b. You had better not touch the vase.

Woud rather
Tercih belirtmek için ‘would prefer’le aynı anlamda kullanılır. Kendisinden sonra gelen fiil yalın haldedir.
a. Diana would rather make a decision.
b. I would rather get married soon.
