What time is it ?

• İngilizce’de saatin kaç olduğunu sormak için ‘What time is it?’ ya da ‘What’s the time?’ soruları kullanılır. Aşağıdaki formüllere dikkat ediniz.

1. X:00 – It’s X o’clock.
Ex:
09:00 – It’s nine o’clock.
2. X:30 – It’s half past X (o’clock).
Ex:
09:30 – It’s half past nine (o’clock).
3. X:15 – It’s quarter past X (o’clock).
Ex:
09:15 – It’s quarter past nine (o’clock).

4. X:45 – It’s quarter to X+1 (o’clock).
Ex:
09:45 – It’s quarter to ten (o’clock).

5. X:01-29 – It’s 01-29 past X (o’clock).
Ex:
09:14 – It’s fourteen past nine (o’clock).
6. X:31-59 – It’s 01-29 to X+1 (o’clock).
Ex:
09:42 – It’s eighteen to ten (o’clock).

NOT: Bir eylemin saat kaçta yapılacağını anlatırken ‘at’ edatı kullanılır.

I am at the office AT two o’clock.
My sister has got a meeting AT half past eight.
There is a dance party in our house AT twelve o’clock.
