Extinct Animals
There were a lot of animal species on Earth in the past. They became extinct and we can’t see them now. lf we don’t protect the other animals they will become extinct, too. Here are some of the animals from the past.
1. Tasmanian Wolf
lt wasn’t a wolf but it was a relative of wombats and kangaroos. People believe that it became extinct over half a century ago.
2. English Wolf
The wolf became extinct in England in 1486, Scotland in 1743 and Ireland in 1770.
3. Steller’s Sea Cow
George Steller discovered this animal in the Aleutian lslands. Sailors ate their meat and used their leather. They became extinct 30 years after Steller’s discovery.
4. Dodo
Portuguese explorers discovered Mauritius Island in 1505 and in that island there were some birds. Their name was ‘Dodo’. People killed the last ‘Dodo’ in 1681.
5. Irısh Dear
They lived in Europe and lreland about 10.000 or 11.000 years ago.
